The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers as amended in 1995 obliges mariners to meet required competencies under the STCW as amended 2010 code, table A-VI/6. These competencies and the code set forth a standardized program of instruction. This course is designed to provide the student with applications and principles that aid the adult learner. This course is 5 days in length and is by design not a comprehensive course but will provide the student with the basic aspects of the learning process and methods to successfully transfer knowledge and skills to others. Upon successful completion of this course, the participants should be capable of undertaking all the responsibilities of an Instructor and/or Assessor as required by the STCW 2010 code and within their field of technical competence.
