The Marine Firefighting for Landbased Firefighters Custom Course follows the NFPA Standard 1005 and recommendations of NFPA 1405. The course design orients the firefighter to the maritime industry and a basic understanding of its operation. Topics covered include ship’s organization, construction, and familiarization. Resolve Academy provides in-depth strategy and tactics to cover the various ship configurations, similarities, and differences between shipboard and structural firefighting based on Fire Control Plans of ships that visit your port. TEEX Certification is available on request.
The class is 50% classroom and 50% practical including 6 hrs. in our Damage Control Solutions Simulator. The students learn how to operate in a full-scale unified ICS environment using a variety of outside resources from the public and private sectors.
TARGET AUDIENCE This course was developed for specialized professional fire department teams.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES This course provides firefighting teams with an understanding of how to identify what vessel traffic, cargo, hazardous cargo, and other marine hazards such as compromised stability are in their response area. Upon completion, firefighting teams will be able to identify why they need to start planning based on the resources their department has and do not have. The training also includes Federal, State, and Local agencies that will respond and how to work together. Upon completion, the firefighting team will be able to respond effectively and safely to manage a shipboard emergency.
