Resolve Maritime Academy Hosts Broward County (BSO - Fort Lauderdale Fire) Joint Fire Response Exercise

On Friday, December 13, 2019, Resolve Maritime Academy is hosting a US Coast Guard approved, joint fire-response exercise with the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department and Broward Sheriff Office (BSO) Fire Department.

This first-time exercise between the agencies is a milestone as the city of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County move forward to actively plan and execute inter-agency response cooperation, communication and coordination activities.

The simulation exercise is hosted at the Resolve Maritime Academy (1600 SE 17th Street, 3rd Floor, Fort Lauderdale) Mission Bridge Simulator simultaneously with teams live at Resolve Grey Manatee Fire-Trainer inside Port Everglades (3305 SE 19th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL).

Starting at 10:00 AM and running until Noon, the joint exercise is a simulated response for a ship 2- miles offshore from Port Everglades that has experienced an on-board explosion and is approaching entrance to Port Everglades.  The teams located at the Resolve Maritime Academy Bridge Simulator and Grey Manatee Fire-Trainer will conduct their coordinated inter-agency response to the emergency at sea, preparation for port arrival and search/rescue exercises.

The importance of this simulation and inter-agency coordination is compounded by recent events necessitating life-saving emergency planning and coordinated training.
